The 2024 model of the popular 160cc; the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Refresh is launched in Nepal. The bike has been launched in Nepal with significant updates and features. The Apache lineup from TVS is a tough competitor in the daily driver category. The Apache RTR lineup consists of a lot of options from different engine configurations and styling.

The TVS Apache RTR 160 comes primarily in two design and performance options; 2V and 4V. The difference between the 2V and the 4V is the number of valves in the engine. The 2V has two fewer valves than the 4V. Due to this, the 4V generates slightly more power and torque than the 2V. Not just in terms of the performance, but design-wise too, the 2V and the 4V are completely different.

The 2024 RTR 160 2V has got new updates in terms of features which makes the 160cc option a tough competitor in the segment. It will compete against the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Suzuki Gixxer, Hero Xtreme 160R and Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 FI Dual ABS.

Design

The design of the 2024 TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Refresh is very similar to that of the older 2V option. The major difference can be seen on the front with the LED headlamp setup. The LED DRLs change the look of the front making it more aggressive along with the LED headlights. The LED headlights have a much better throw of light for better visibility. The indicators however are still halogen.

The muscular tank on the TVS RTR 160 2V Refresh has newer graphics with the use of carbon fibre elements making the bike more sporty. The metal tank has 16 litres of fuel capacity. It is supported with the fibre fairing which also helps in aerodynamics and better looks. The single seat is soft and has comfortable seating for both the rider and the pillion with a seat height of 790 mm.

Coming to the rear of the 2024 TVS RTR 160 2V Refresh, it gets a new LED taillamp setup. The sides of the taillight are in the shape of a half triangle whereas the middle piece is a triangular brake light.

The indicators are halogen on the rear too. The split grab rails make it sporty and help the pillion onto it during bumpy roads or higher speeds.

The 2024 TVS RTR 160 2V Refresh also features a new digital display featured with the TVS SmartXonnect System. It displays speed, rpm, time, fuel meter, trip meter, distance travelled, average speed, Bluetooth connectivity and safety features like lower fuel warning, turn-bu-turn navigation, Call/SMS alert, crash alert and lean angle mode.

Performance

The 2024 TVS Apache RTR 160 2V Refresh is a performance-oriented bike. It has a 159.7 cc oil-cooled engine with a 2-valve configuration, delivering a maximum power output of 14.14 PS at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 13.2 Nm at 6750 rpm. This engine, paired with a precise 5-speed gearbox, making it ideal for both city commutes and highway cruising.

The Apache RTR 160 2V Refresh features a robust braking system with a 270mm diameter petal disc up front and at the rear,there is the option of choosing between a drum or an upgraded 200mm diameter petal disc. The chassis is a double cradle synchro stiff frame.

The suspension setup comprises a telescopic fork at the front and a monotube inverted gas-filled shock absorber (MIG) with spring aid at the rear for comfortable and controlled ride over various road surfaces.
